3 months jail time is just not enough for former policeman

I am so sick and tired of hearing about persons in authority doing illegal actions and pretty much getting a slap on the wrist. It is so pathetic.

I read the article about former La Crosse police officer Brian Thompson, who was stealing drugs from evidence storage and received a 3 month jail sentence. I feel that sentence is not enough. I feel that he seriously damaged the reputation of that police department and as a person of authority the sentence should be much greater.

Why don't the prosecutors and judges take these things seriously? I mean, really, police officers, sheriff deputies, probation officers, etc. should all be held to a higher standard and they took an oath to do so. They break that oath and since the people who prosecute them are their "friends" they don't get crap for a sentence.

It seems like it is happening more and more that authority figures are breaking the law, I just hope that the punishments start getting more serious, enough to deter others from doing the same.
